Punt e Mes is the most popular apéritif of the House Carpano, the renowned producer of Italian Vermouth. On the 19th of April 1870, while discussing the increase of share price that day (+1,5%), a stockbroker ordered a Vermouth ("one point" of vermouth) with a half dose of bitter, so inspiring the new recipe. Punt e Mes is the Piedmontese translation of "a point and a half"; which turned out to be the ideal ratio of sweetness to bitterness. Punt e Mes is excellent for any social occasion, whether formal or informal, that expresses the warmth of the Italian way of socializing.
